Jammu, 13 May (Hindustan Reporter) The Annual Sports Festival of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, SMVDU concluded with the closing ceremony in which the winners were given away prizes. The sports festival includes participation of students in athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, cricket, football, kabaddi, kho-kho, table tennis, tennis and volleyball in both men's and women's categories.
The chief guest of the valedictory function was Professor Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, who in his address stressed the importance of sports in life for learning discipline, teamwork and perseverance besides attaining physical and mental health. He appreciated the efforts of the organizers, participants and spectators in making the event a success. He also informed about the new sports facilities being developed in the university for the benefit of the students. In the closing ceremony, the chief guest along with Registrar Ajay Kumar distributed medals to the winners and awards to the best players.
