Jammu, May 25 (HS). The Design Your Degree faculty team led by Dr. M. Sharada Potukuchi of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, SMVDU recently interacted with faculty mentors and students of Islamic University of Science and Technology, IUST, Awantipora. This meeting is an important step towards innovative higher education strategies under NEP-2020.
Professor AH Moon, Dean of Academic Affairs at IUST, elaborated on the DYOD program introduced in the academic session 2023-24. According to him, this unique four-year undergraduate course allows students to experience a wide range of subjects across different faculties in the first two years. This foundational period is followed by a specialized focus in the student's chosen field, which is facilitated by a bridge course offered in the fourth semester. The core philosophy of the program is project-based experiential learning, which aims to prepare students for real-world challenges.
Dr. Ruheela Hasan, Coordinator DYOD, IUST presented the visionary teaching methodology of the program by showcasing the various courses and curriculum offered under their teaching. She emphasized its dedication towards skill development and application of practical knowledge. The SMVD University team expressed its appreciation for the whole day of insightful interaction with special thanks to Professor Shakeel A Romshoo, Vice Chancellor, IUST for facilitating the occasion. Notably, SMVD University is preparing to launch its DYOD program for the 2024-25 academic session. Applications are now open for students interested in pursuing different undergraduate degrees.
