Solan, July 29 (HS). The district police is keeping a special watch on drug smugglers, during which, on the basis of secret information, it was found that the network of heroin smuggler accused Harpreet Singh from Ropar district of Punjab is active in supplying huge quantities of heroin to the youth of Himachal, which has been dismantled by Solan Police.
On the basis of a tip-off, the special team of the district police searched a car parked on Power House Road in Solan on July 23, in which two youths were riding. 19 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession. The accused have been identified as Rajiv (35) Gupta, son of Pawan Kumar Gupta and Amit Rawat (26) son of Ashok Rawat, both residents of Solan.
In this regard, a case was registered in Police Station Sadar Solan under Section 21, 29 ND&PS Act and during the investigation of the case, the police started investigating the main kingpin of this drug consignment. In which the name of a person named Harpreet Singh alias Jimmy, resident of Ropar, came to light from whom they had bought it. On July 25, the team of Police Station Sadar Solan, acting on a secret information, recovered about 6 grams of heroin from a house located in village Bawra Chambaghat from the possession of three youths Nitin Kumar (24) son of Santram resident Tehsil Arki District Solan, Dixit Sharma (24) son of Chandra Dat Sharma resident Salogra District Solan and Sahil (21) son of Harish Kumar resident of District Solan.
A case was registered in Sadar police station under Section 21, 29 of the NDA PS Act and the three accused were taken on four-day police remand for investigation. It was found that this accused, Harpreet Singh alias Jimmy, son of Kuljit Singh, had also bought heroin from Ropar, Punjab.
The main mastermind has been arrested by the team of Solan Police Station Sadar.
Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said that accused Harpreet Singh (31) son of Kuljit Singh, resident of Ropar Punjab has been arrested from Mohali Punjab. He has been produced in the court and taken on three-day police remand. On investigation, it has been found that accused Harpreet Singh has been involved in drug smuggling cases earlier as well. Two cases of smuggling of about 22 grams of heroin are already registered against him in police station Ganauli Ropar. On investigation, it has also been found that accused Harpreet Singh was supplying drugs to the youth of Himachal Pradesh for a long time.
The Superintendent of Police said that during the investigation it was also found that one of the arrested accused, Rajiv Gupta, has been involved in criminal incidents earlier as well. A rape case is registered against him in Police Station Sadar Solan in the year 2017. In which the said accused is on bail from the High Court. At present, both the arrested accused are in judicial custody.
