Amethi, 28 February (HS). Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister of Women and Child Development and Minority Welfare, Government of India, on Wednesday inaugurated 30 libraries and 3 Boeing Innovation Studios by Learning Links Foundation under the Room to Read literacy programme.
The Minister launched the Boeing Literacy Program in Amethi district to help advance female literacy and empower the girl child. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently dedicated the Boeing Sukanya program to the nation, which aims to empower girls and women across India to learn critical skills in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields and train for jobs in the aviation sector. On this occasion, Smriti Irani said, “The biggest thing is that I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modiji for helping in increasing the participation of the daughters of our country in the aviation sector of India through the Boeing Sukanya program. I am equally happy that under this programme, we have expanded the literacy campaign by setting up 60 Boeing Room 3 Read libraries and Boeing STEM Labs in Amethi. Today, 30 of these libraries and three STEM labs are fully operational for the children in Amethi. Such programs not only make education accessible and employment inclusive for our girls and women but also empower every woman to become the center of decision making in the family, community and country.
