2.37 Smart meters will be installed in urban areas
Let us tell you that smart meters will soon be installed in the homes of 2.37 lakh consumers in urban areas. The electricity department has started working on the plan regarding this. According to the information, smart meters will be installed in 40 sub-station areas in a phased manner.
Electricity will be available through recharge
Currently, consumers are unable to see the error in the meter reading themselves, whereas in smart meters, consumers will have complete details of their electricity supply. They will be able to recharge only for the electricity consumed.
Benefits of Smart Meters
Smart meters will stop electricity theft and will also provide relief to those consumers who do not pay their electricity bills. The special thing is that no additional charge will be taken from the consumer for this meter.
No fixed fee will be required to be paid
Earlier, some electricity consumers used to get bills for one month and some for two months. After getting electricity connection, they also had to pay a fixed fee. But now this will not happen. Consumers will have to pay only as much electricity as they use.
Features of Smart Meters
Smart prepaid meters record electricity consumption every minute. This can be monitored through a mobile application. The application has the facility to alert about power cuts and capacity reduction. The meter has real-time data, so the meter accurately evaluates the electricity consumption and bills accordingly.
How does a smart meter work?
Smart meters have an automatic switch that cuts off power when the unit is not in use. When recharged, the balance increases and the switch allows power to flow again.
