New Delhi, 03 September (HS). After 13 consecutive days of gains, consolidation was seen in the domestic stock market today. However, Nifty today also managed to close in the green with gains for the 14th consecutive day. With this, Nifty once again made a new record of all-time high closing today. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed with a slight weakness of 0.01 percent, while the Nifty ended today's trading with a symbolic rise of 0.005 percent.
Today, during the day's trading, there was buying in the stocks of capital goods, consumer durables, pharmaceutical, financial and banking sectors. On the other hand, there was pressure on the stocks of metal, energy, utility, power, oil and gas and IT sectors. Despite the pressure on Sensex and Nifty, there was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a gain of 0.19 percent. Similarly, the smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 0.54 percent.
Due to the strength in midcap and smallcap stocks today, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 60 thousand crores. The market capitalization of companies listed on BSE increased to Rs 465.52 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. On the previous trading day i.e. Monday, their market capitalization was Rs 464.85 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 67 thousand crores from today's trading.
There was active trading in 4,054 shares on the BSE during today's trading. Of these, 2,006 shares closed with a gain while 1,930 shares showed a decline and 118 shares closed without any fluctuation. There was active trading in 2,432 shares on the NSE today. Of these, 1,224 shares closed in the green after making a profit while 1,208 shares closed in the red after incurring a loss. Similarly, out of the 30 shares included in the Sensex, 14 shares closed with a gain and 16 shares closed with a decline. Out of the 50 shares included in the Nifty, 21 shares closed in the green and 29 shares closed in the red.
The BSE Sensex opened today with a gain of 92.85 points at 82,652.69 points. As soon as the trading started, the index fell due to selling pressure. Due to continuous selling, after the first 2 hours of trading, at 11:15 am, the Sensex fell by 159.08 points to 82,400.76 points. However, after this the buyers tried to increase the buying pressure, due to which the index recovered about 275 points from the lower level and reached 82,675.06 points with a gain of 115.22 points. After this, once again due to profit booking, the index fell and reached the red mark again. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed with a slight decline of 4.40 points at 82,555.44 points.
Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty also started trading today with a gain of 34.70 points at 25,313.40 points. After the market opened, due to selling pressure, this index also fell by 42.90 points to 25,235.80 points. However, after getting buying support, this index jumped more than 85 points from the lower level and succeeded in reaching the level of 25,321.70 points with a gain of 43 points. After the whole day's trading, Nifty closed at 25,279.85 points with a symbolic strength of 1.15 points.
After a day of buying and selling, among the stock market's big stocks, SBI Life Insurance 2.11 percent, HDFC Life 1.80 percent, ICICI Bank 1.44 percent, Shriram Finance 1.44 percent and Bajaj Finserv 1.36 percent were included in the list of top 5 gainers today. On the other hand, ONGC 1.23 percent, Infosys 1.18 percent, Bajaj Finance 1.16 percent, JSW Steel 1.01 percent and Adani Ports 1 percent down were included in the list of top 5 losers today.
