Varanasi, 17 October (HS). To illuminate the path of martyrs, sky lamps in bamboo baskets were lit in the sky of Kashi on Thursday evening. When the sky lamps moved in a queue from the banks of Ganga towards the sky, the divine sight overwhelmed everyone with reverence. On one hand, the moonlight of Sharad Purnima was shining brightly, on the other hand, sky lamps started glowing on the bamboo tips in the memory of the martyrs at the ancient Dashashwamedh Ghat. The twinkling lamps in the bamboo shoots twinkled like moonlight. This sky lamp was lit by Gangotri Seva Samiti in memory of 11 martyrs of police and PAC who sacrificed their lives for the safety of the people. A lamp was also donated in the midstream of Ganga. Paying homage to the martyred police and PAC soldiers at the ancient Dashashwamedh Ghat, five Vedic Acharyas started the lighting of the sky lamp with the Shodashochar puja of Mother Ganga. After this, 101 lamps were floated in the Ganga. During this time, Vedic mantras kept resonating. Ajit Kumar Thunla was present as a special guest in the event. Along with the tune of PAC Band, the guests lit the sky lamps in memory of the martyrs.
