Six acres of crop burnt to ashes due to sparking from high tension line


Hamirpur, 13 April (HS). On Saturday, in Mawai Jar village of Sumerpur area, about six bighas of crop was burnt to ashes due to the spark emanating from the high tension line. The fire brigade along with the farmers reached the spot and brought the fire under control. In this incident, the farmer is likely to suffer a loss of more than one lakh.

Village head Kamta Prasad Verma told that Mawaijar resident Rajendra Prasad Kushwaha has a private tube well and he had sown wheat crop in about six bighas. The crop was ripe and ready. But on Saturday, a spark came out from near the transformer and his ripe crop caught fire. Farmers working in the nearby fields tried to control the fire, but the fire could be extinguished only after the arrival of the fire brigade. Farmer Rajendra Kushwaha told that he has suffered a loss of more than one lakh in this incident.

The farmer told that last year also there was a fire in his field due to high tension line. But somehow it was controlled. There are two different lines of high tension line lying from his farm. Due to which his crop always remains vulnerable to accidents. The victim farmer told that when the line was being laid, he had also complained about it. But no hearing took place. Former head Mahesh Shivhare has assured all possible help to the victim.
