Dehradun, 01 August (HS). After the disaster caused by heavy rains, the situation in Uttarakhand has now become normal. However, the Kedarnath Dham Yatra route has been banned. A total of about 700 people are stranded on the Kedarnath Dham Yatra route. At the same time, about 1000-1500 people are likely to be stranded in Kedarnath. Out of this, 1525 people have been rescued and taken out safely. Five helicopters are engaged in heli rescue.
Uttarakhand Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said that on the demand of the Uttarakhand government, Chinook and MI-17 helicopters of the Air Force from the Government of India have come to Uttarakhand, which are engaged in rescuing and evacuating the people trapped in Kedarnath. The state government is trying to ensure that no devotee suffers any harm and they return safely from their destination. This will send a good message to the state government. He said that at present the traffic is blocked on the damaged routes. An alternative route will be built soon. 1100 passengers have been taken to a safe place through an alternative route. 425 passengers stranded in Bhimbali, Rambada, Licholi on the Kedarnath Dham route have been taken to a safe place by heli rescue. This has been possible due to the prompt action of the government and the efficiency of the SDRF. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself is keeping an eye on the disaster-affected districts. He has appealed to the pilgrims to exercise restraint along with taking stock of the rescue operation.
The disaster in Uttarakhand due to heavy rains swept away roads, houses, culverts and hotels. Many lost their homes and many lost their families. A similar horrific scene was seen on the night of 31st July. The pilgrims who had set out for the Char Dham Yatra also stopped wherever they were. However, fear could not overpower faith. Currently, due to the road being washed away, the journey to Kedarnath Dham, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, located on the banks of the Mandakini River at an altitude of 3584 meters above sea level, has been stopped. Last July too, the bad mood of the weather had hindered the world famous Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand. This time, a part of the Kedarnath Yatra route was washed away. In such a situation, hundreds of pilgrims got stuck in Kedarnath Dham. The pilgrims stranded on the Yatra route are praying, O Kedar! What kind of a test is this to come to your doorstep?
