Sitapur News: Big relief to former SP MLA Anup Gupta from High Court, court said this on the notice of bulldozer action

Big news has come out from Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. Former Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Anup Gupta from Maholi Assembly seat has got a big relief from Allahabad High Court. About 15 days ago, the municipality and the district administration had issued a notice declaring Anoop Gupta’s house illegal by saying that it was built on the land of a plywood factory. The former MLA had approached the High Court against this notice.

While hearing the case, the High Court has made important comments on the procedure and jurisdiction of administrative notice.

High Court is strict on working outside the jurisdiction

Giving information about the High Court’s decision, former SP MLA Anoop Gupta said that the High Court clearly said that one should work within the jurisdiction he has. He said that the District Magistrate does not have the legal right to send such a notice under Section 54 and Section 58 of the Revenue Code. The High Court has directed the administration to file a reply in this matter within a week.

‘The municipality is completely captured, the board should resign’

After getting relief from the High Court, Anoop Gupta launched a scathing attack on the municipal administration and the local board. He alleged that no democratic system is working in Sitapur Municipality.

The former MLA said, “Neither the chairman nor the councilors are running the municipality. The entire municipality has been captured by the officials. When the board has no power left and everything is being run by the officials, then the municipality chairman and the entire board should take moral responsibility and resign from their posts immediately.”

Who is former SP MLA Anoop Gupta?

Anoop Gupta is a familiar face in Sitapur politics. He is the son of veteran SP leader and former MLA late Om Prakash Gupta.

• 2007: For the first time, he contested elections from Misrikh assembly seat on SP ticket and reached the assembly after winning.

• 2012: Won again on SP ticket from the new Maholi assembly seat created after delimitation.

• 2017: He had to face defeat from BJP candidate from Maholi assembly seat.
