Varanasi, 19 August (HS). On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan festival, sisters of prisoners reached the district jail in Chaukaghat on Monday to meet them. After waiting for hours, when sisters tied Rakhi to their brothers in jail, their happiness was visible on their faces. Special arrangements were made for this in the jail.
The state's prison minister and principal secretary Rajesh Pratap Singh had already instructed that sisters will come to the district prison to tie rakhi to their brothers imprisoned in the jail on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, they should not face any kind of inconvenience. After the instructions of the prison minister, the prison administration made full preparations for the Rakshabandhan festival. Sisters kept reaching the prison amid tight security since morning. According to the prison officials, 192 women met their brothers in the first shift, 165 in the second shift and 81 in the third shift and tied rakhi. Sisters will also tie rakhi in the fourth shift.
According to the prison superintendent, after filling up the form as per the jail rules at 7 am, the sisters were allowed to meet their brothers in the barracks through the main gate. By 11 am, 192 women had tied Rakhi to their brothers. Entry was allowed inside only after checking the gifts they had brought. By 2 pm, 432 sisters had tied Rakhi. The prisoners in the jail also looked happy with the presence of the sisters. The prisoners whose relatives did not come looked a little sad. On this occasion, women police personnel were deployed at the gate and inside the jail for the safety of the sisters.
