He remained in controversies many times due to the lyrics of his songs. The songs written by him have also been sung by many famous singers. On March 8, 1988, Amarsingh Chamkila and his wife Amarjot were shot dead. Two other members of his band were also killed along with him. The reason behind his murder has not been revealed till date. The film 'Amarsingh Chamkila' will be released on OTT platform Netflix on April 12.
