Mumbai: BJP leader and prime accused Pragya Singh Thakur's lawyer argued before a special court that the Malegaon 2008 bomb blasts could have been carried out by the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). Local people stopped the police from reaching the spot immediately after the blast and may have done so to implicate the accused, Thakur's lawyer J. P. Mishra said.
Whenever such an incident happens, people help the police, but in this case, after the incident, a large number of people gathered and pelted stones at the police so that they could not reach the spot, claimed lawyer Mishra.
SIMI's office was located near the spot where the bombs were made and it may have been accidentally detonated while carrying the explosives on a two-wheeler. The investigating agency claimed that the car belonged to Thakur. Mishra will argue further on Friday. During the hearing, 323 government witnesses were examined, of which 34 were withdrawn.
Special judge of the special NIA court A. Of. The defense is presenting its final arguments before Lahoti. On September 29, 2008, a bomb planted on a motorcycle exploded near a mosque in Malegaon, 200 km from Mumbai. In which six died and more than a hundred were injured.
