Siliguri, 21 November (HS). Siliguri police station has arrested the accused while solving a theft case. The name of the arrested accused is Vicky Valmiki. He is a resident of Tikiapara. All the stolen goods have also been recovered from the accused. DCP Rakesh Singh of Siliguri Metropolitan Police gave this information in a press conference on Thursday.
DCP Rakesh Singh said that Suraj Bansfor, a resident of Tikiapara, had gone to a relative’s house in Cooch Behar a few days ago. When he returned home on the 15th, he saw that the door and cupboard of the house were broken. Cash and other documents went missing along with gold and silver jewellery. After which Suraj lodged a written complaint in Siliguri police station on 16 November. On the basis of the complaint lodged, Siliguri police station started investigation. After this, named criminal Vicky Valmiki, resident of Tikiapada, was arrested. After the arrest of the accused, many documents including stolen jewelery were recovered.
DCP said that the accused had hidden all the stolen goods by digging in the ground in his house. The remaining associates of the accused are being searched.
