Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the G-7 summit in Apulia, Italy. All eyes were on the meeting of the two leaders after Canada accused India of the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. After meeting PM Modi, Trudeau talked about improving relations, but a different opinion came out of the Canadian Parliament. A minute's silence was observed in the Canadian Parliament for Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a terrorist associated with the Khalistan Tiger Force organization.
In the House of Commons, First Speaker Gray Fuggers read a condolence message for Nijjar, after which all MPs asked for a moment of silence for Nijjar. Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that this is an opportunity to discuss issues related to economic relations and national security with the new government of India. He said this after meeting PM Modi in the G-7.
India will now take such a step against Canada
Trudeau said that the best thing about the G-7 summit is that you get to connect directly with many global leaders. You will get a chance to meet the leaders of countries. With whom someone disagrees on something. Which includes India as well. There is a relationship between the people of India and Canada. Which is a very important economic relationship. He said that our people's relationship with India is very good. We agree on many issues. On which we need to work as a global community under the guise of democracy. There are many such issues. On which we need to work. Now elections have been held in India as well. So I think there is a need to discuss some serious issues like national security and security of Canadian citizens.
Meeting between PM Modi and Trudeau in Italy
In this, it was asked whether there has been any improvement in getting cooperation from India in the Nijjar case under the British Columbia investigation? On this, Trudeau said that work is being done in this direction. The important thing is that PM Modi and Justin Trudeau once again talked to each other at the G-7 summit in Italy. This was the first meeting between the two leaders after the allegations were made on India regarding the murder of Nijjar last year. After this meeting, PM Modi posted a photo of the two leaders shaking hands on social media and wrote that he met Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the G7 summit.
Trudeau accuses India of Niger murder
Speaking in Parliament last year, Justin Trudeau accused India of killing Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, after which political tensions between India and Canada increased. Since then, India-Canada relations have been going through ups and downs. India also accused Trudeau and his party of doing vote bank politics to woo Khalistanis. In January this year, former Canadian National Security Advisor Jody Thomas said that India was cooperating with Canada in the investigation of Nijjar's murder.
Nijjar was assassinated last year
Nijjar was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Canada in June last year. Nijjar was a Khalistani terrorist. He was the head of the Khalistani Tiger Force. He lived in Canada for many years. And from there he was promoting Khalistani terrorism against India.
When Trudeau visited India in 2018, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh handed him a list of Khalistan terrorists. Nijjar's name was also included in it. The Union Home Ministry declared Nijjar a terrorist in the year 2020. A police complaint was filed against him in the 2010 bomb blast outside a temple in Patiala, Punjab. Several sections like inciting violence and promoting terrorist activities were imposed on him. That's why the police were looking for him. Hardeep Nijjar was declared a designated terrorist in India. The NIA had also placed a bounty of Rs 10 lakh on him.
