A landslide has occurred in Singtam district of Sikkim. The landslide occurred at the place where NHPC's Phase-5 power project is located. Local people have been alerted.
A massive landslide occurred in the sandy area of Dipu Dara in Singtam, Sikkim, damaging the NHPC Teesta Stage V Power House. The incident caused severe anxiety and fear among the residents of Balutar.

Earlier, more than 1,200 tourists, including 15 foreign nationals, were trapped in a massive landslide triggered by incessant rains in North Sikkim's Mangan district. Landslides and heavy rains claimed nine lives in the hill state, the official said. Properties were damaged and road connectivity, power and food supplies and mobile networks were disrupted in many areas. Sikkim Tourism and Civil Aviation Department Principal Secretary CS Rao said in a statement, “According to reports, about 1,200 local and 15 foreign tourists were stranded due to road blockage caused by heavy rains and landslides. Three from India, 10 were stranded in Lachung.” People in Bangladesh's Mangan district are suffering from this natural disaster.
