Haridwar, 3 October (Hindustan Reporter). The protest for Gurudwara Gyan Goddi has been going on continuously near Premnagar bridge for the last eight years. On completion of eight years, the Sikh community, under the aegis of Gurudwara Gyan Goddi Management Committee, took out a protest march from Premnagar Bridge protest site via Bhagat Singh Chowk back to the protest site. Before this, Saint Baljinder Singh Shastri enthralled the congregation by narrating the story and the ragi group with kirtan.
On this occasion, Sant Jagjit Singh Shastri said that even if the government gives land for a Gurudwara at any other place, the original place near Har Ki Paidi will not be left behind. The protest for the Gurudwara has been going on peacefully for eight years continuously, but the government is not taking any notice. The entire Sikh community will have to come together and fight in the name of the Guru. Space should be given for the Gurudwara as soon as possible.
He said that through the anger march, the government and administration are being made aware that the Sikh community will take the land for the Gurudwara. Only assurances are given again and again. He said that the society has to fight with the government and not among itself.
President Harjeet Singh Dua said that the struggle has been going on for the last four decades. Many meetings were held with the government administration but no results were achieved, due to which there is immense anger among the people.
