Shyam Narayan Jha

Ranchi, July 04 (HS). Indian Council of Agricultural Research Deputy Director Dr. Shyam Narayan Jha said that there is a need to emphasize on the maximum use of agricultural engineering in the field of agriculture. He said that agriculture is a subject in the state list. That is why the Jharkhand government should ensure the appointment of an agricultural engineer in every district and block.

Jha said that recently Jharkhand government had appointed 29-30 agricultural engineers, which is commendable but appointment of more agricultural engineers will prove very helpful in increasing the income of farmers in the region. Along with this, Jharkhand government should form an agricultural engineering directorate as soon as possible to monitor and guide these engineers. Jha was talking to reporters after visiting the National Agricultural Higher Processing Institute located in Namkum on Thursday.

Jha said that three states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu have formed Directorates of Agricultural Engineering, which are benefiting the farmers of those areas. He said that with the help of agricultural engineers, more and more integration in agriculture will be promoted, which will greatly help in increasing the income of farmers. This will increase the yield by 20-22 percent, reduce weeds by 35-40 percent, reduce wages of workers and promote micro irrigation. This will also improve the level of groundwater.

Jha said that the Indian government's target is that agricultural mechanization should increase to 75 percent in India like countries like Brazil. Finally, he also discussed the Indian government's continuous efforts to make small robots or use them in agriculture.

Earlier, the Deputy Director visited the National Agricultural Higher Processing Institute located at Namkum. During this, the Deputy Director toured the entire institute and took information about the available infrastructure. He also held a meeting with all the members of the institute. In this sequence, he took information about the research related work of all the scientists. He called upon all the members to cooperate in the progress of the institute. All the members should perform their assigned tasks with devotion.
