Gurugram, June 29 (HS). A seminar was organized at Gurugram University on Saturday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maharishi Narad, the first communicator of the universe. This seminar was held under the joint aegis of Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Haryana and Media Studies Department, Gurugram University. Journalists, educationists, other dignitaries of the society and students participated in this seminar organized on the topic of constructive role of media in building society.

The program was presided over by Gurugram University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar. The keynote speaker was senior journalist and Sansad TV editor Shyam Kishore. Social worker Dinesh Nagpal was the chief guest and renowned educationist Dr. Ashok Diwakar was the special guest. Gurugram University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar, speaking on the importance of journalism in his presidential address, said that if we get to read positive things in newspapers, then the whole society will move forward in the right direction, people will progress in every field. Today the country needs qualified people, there is no dearth of work in any field for talented people.

While throwing light on the relation between journalism and society, the keynote speaker Shyam Kishore said that journalism is a path of lifelong struggle. While doing journalism, we have to take care of ourselves and our family, and also take the society towards progress. Our future generations will get what we build in this society. It is the need of the hour to maintain a balance between society and spirituality. Gurugram University's motto 'Vidya Jeevanaay Na Tu Jeevikaay' also points towards this.

In his powerful speech, renowned educationist and Director of Skill Development Centre, Seva and Gram Vikas Kendra, Panipat, Ashok Diwakar said on the coordination of society, government and NGOs that only with their combined efforts, society can progress. Senior journalists of various newspapers were present in this seminar. Journalists shared their experiences with media students and had an in-depth discussion and dialogue on media and social change. In the seminar, major topics like media, ethics and positive change in society, changes coming in the era of artificial intelligence were discussed. The chief guest of the program, Mr. Dinesh Nagpal, said in his address that if everyone works in the social sector with this serious thinking, then the solution to the problems of society is not difficult. In the program, journalists were honored by Gurugram University for their social contribution.
