Shyam Benegal merged with Panchatatva, tears of stars did not stop during his last farewell

Mumbai: Eminent leader of the Indian cinema movement and filmmaker Shyam Benegal was cremated on Tuesday with full state honors at the Shivaji Park crematorium in Dadar. He died on Monday at the age of 90 after battling chronic kidney disease.

Many veteran actors and directors of the old and new generation of cinema world attended the funeral of Shyam Benegal. Celebrities like Naseeruddin Shah, Ranjit Kapoor, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and Ila Arun were among those who paid tribute to him. Apart from this, Ratna Pathak Shah, her son Vivaan Shah, writer and lyricist Gulzar, director Hansal Mehta, lyricist Javed Akhtar, actress Divya Dutta, actors Boman Irani, Kunal Kapoor, and Anang Desai were also present.

Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, who worked for the restoration of Benegal’s films, also came to pay tribute. Many film stars also expressed their condolences towards him on the internet media. Those who paid tribute included Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Nafisa Ali, Karisma Kapoor, Vishal Bhardwaj, Ajay Devgan, Lilith Dubey, Shoojit Sircar, Zoya Akhtar, Shreyas Talpade, Randeep Hooda, Bangladeshi actor Arifin Shuvo, and former journalist Khalid Muhammad.

Remembering the extraordinary contribution of Shyam Benegal, the cinema world remembered him as a personality who gave a new direction to Indian cinema. His absence is an irreparable loss to the world of cinema and art.
