Shukla

Bhopal, June 24 (HS). Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla said that the HMIS portal will prove to be effective in the delivery of medical services, patient facilities, tracking of patients' health profile and treatment, preventing leakage of resources and strong monitoring.

Deputy Chief Minister Shukla was reviewing the concept note of HMIS portal for digitization of medical services delivery system at Mantralaya Vallabh Bhawan on Monday. He directed to study the successful models of the country and other states and make necessary provisions for the creation of HMIS portal.

Additional Chief Secretary Health and Medical Education Mohammad Suleman, Principal Secretary Vivek Kumar Porwal provided detailed information about the provisions of HMIS. The HMIS portal will improve patient flow and services in hospitals through a fully digitized system. The patient and hospital relationship will be made better, transparent, comfortable and reliable. There will be provisions for integration with existing drug and equipment software, MP-Aushadhi and EMMS and other health related portals. It will be ensured in the portal that there is no duplication of work. The portal will be built in accordance with national data security norms and legal framework.

Registration will be done from home, no need to stand in queues

Patients will be able to register from home through the HMIS portal. Crowd-free prescriptions can also be generated in the hospital. Patients' time can be saved by using Aabha ID. Direct consultation with the doctor will be possible through a fully digital system supported by queue management and token display system. All data entry and updating will be done at the source, saving valuable time of patients. The entire system will be wireless and secure. There will be complete integration of medicine and diagnosis systems, which will reduce duplication of work.

Facility of medical consultation in any hospital due to records being online

Citizens will be able to view their health records and reports online, giving them access to their data anywhere and anytime. Patients will be able to show their records to any hospital in India. This will provide the benefits of portability through electronic health records. A completely paperless system will strengthen the referral system, leading to better and faster health services. The concept note includes several provisions to enable citizens to easily receive remote consultation through telemedicine.

Provision for seamless implementation of HMIS in remote and network challenged areas

The portal is proposed in the client server model. This model does not depend on full-time internet availability, allowing HMIS to be implemented even in remote and network challenged areas. In the client server model all the required functionality is available to each client even if the internet connection is temporarily unavailable. Each client gets synced with the central server as soon as the data connection is available, keeping the data secure and up-to-date. This model allows new functions and features to be added in the future without disrupting existing operations.

Public Health and Medical Education Commissioner Tarun Pithode, Additional Commissioner Medical Education Dr. Pankaj Jain and senior officials of the Health and Medical Education Department were present in the meeting.
