At present, both Team India and Australia are on equal footing in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The first match of the three-match series was won by India and the second match was won by Australia. After this, the third match played in Gaba was a draw. Now both the teams will enter the Melbourne Test with the intention of taking the lead in the series. The fourth match is being played in Melbourne. For this match, Australia included Scott Boland in the team in place of Josh Hazlewood. Whereas India played Washington Sundar in place of Shubman Gill. But despite being out of the match, Gill was seen batting with Team India. During this period, Gill sweated profusely in the nets.
Gill took batting practice
While on one hand Team India was batting against Australia in the Melbourne Test, on the other hand Shubman Gill was seen practicing batting in the nets. Although Gill could not be a part of Team India’s playing eleven for the match and had to sit out, Gill showed his dedication towards the game and came to practice in between live matches. In the third session of the second day, he practiced batting in the nets. Fans are appreciating Gill’s hard work.
Why was Gill out of Melbourne Test?
The reason for leaving Gill out of the Melbourne Test was to select the team on the basis of the Melbourne pitch. After the end of the first day’s play, Team India’s batting coach Abhishek Nair made a big revelation about this. He said that considering the pitch, it was decided to include another spinner Washington Sundar in the team along with Ravindra Jadeja. Because of this Gill was dropped from the playing eleven.
Gill was a flop in the series
Gill could not play the first match of this series due to injury. He had returned from the Pink Ball Test in Adelaide. He scored 59 runs in both innings of this match. After this, Gill was out for 1 run in the first innings of the Gabba Test. So far in this series, he has been able to score only 60 runs in three innings of two matches. His bat has become completely silent.
