Mohali, August 09 (HS). Top professional golfer Shubhankar Sharma has qualified as the first Indian to qualify for the Paris Olympics 2024 in men's golf. He finished 40th in the Men's Individual Stroke Play event Round 4. He recorded a score of 1-under 283 after four rounds at Le Golf National. The previous best performance at the Olympics was by Anirban Lahiri at Tokyo 2020, where he finished 42nd.
Speaking about his first Olympic experience, Shubhankar said, “My Olympic experience has been different from any other golf event. It had the feel of a big tournament. I believe that Olympic golf will very soon be one of the best golf events held around the world. I also believe that as a nation we have the potential to achieve even greater success. This is just the beginning. We are on a journey towards national glory.”
Expressing pride at Shubhankar's Paris performance, Sunny Gurpreet Singh, Founder, RoundGlass said, “Shubhankar has performed exceptionally well in his first Olympics.
