Siddh Baba Sodal Mela is a century and a half old and famous fair of North India in Jalandhar, in which every year lakhs of devotees of all religions from other states of North India participate. This fair is held every year on Anant Chaudas of Bhadon month. On the fulfillment of wishes, devotees come to Baba Sodal temple in this fair doing Bhangra with musical instruments and directly thank Baba Sodal temple. According to this ancient story, this was the residence of a sadhu sadhu.

When the daughter-in-law of the Chaddha family of Jalandhar did not have a child even after a long time of marriage, she prayed at many places and meanwhile someone told the girl that there is no happiness in her deeds. After this, the daughter-in-law of the Chaddha family started serving the Sadhu Baba living here. One day the Sadhu Maharaj was pleased with her service, so she asked for a gift of a child from that Sadhu Maharaj. Sadhu Maharaj said that 'Saint happiness is not in your deeds, but you will get saint happiness by seeing your service but that child will be dear to God, so do not scold or misbehave with him.' After the passage of time, a son was born to that woman. The family named the child Sodhal. When the child was five years old, one day the said woman was washing clothes on the banks of the pond at this pilgrimage and the small child was playing mischief with fresh water. Angry, his mother asked him to drown himself in the pond. The child jumped into the pond and disappeared. The mother cried a lot and prayed to God for the safety of her child. After some time, that boy came out of the pond in the form of Sheshnag and told that he has appeared for the welfare of the world. Whoever asks for the donation of a milk-son here, his wish will be fulfilled. Since that time, the people of Chaddha family have been bringing sweets made in an iron pan from their home as prasad. The whole family can eat this prasad but the daughters of the house cannot eat it. Khetri is sown 7-8 days before the fair for the progress and prosperity of the family and on the day of the fair it is offered to Babaji here. The place where there was a pond at that time, there is a reservoir today.

According to another legend, Baba Sodhal was born in the house of the daughter of the Chadha family with the blessings of Sadhu Mahatma living here. One day when she was washing clothes at the pond in Bibi Makhdoompura locality, her five-year-old son was doing mischief in the water. She stopped the child from doing mischief, when he did not stop, the mother asked him to drown in the water. When the child did not come out of the water, the woman kept pleading and crying again and again. After some time, the child came out in the form of a snake and told his mother that he was a pious person and was born with the blessings of Sadhu Maharaj. He was born for the welfare of the world. Whenever she wishes, he will give her darshan. When the wish is fulfilled, a large number of people come to pay obeisance at Baba Sodhal's fair.
