Mumbai: Shraddha Kapoor's 'Stree 2', John Abraham's 'Veda' and Akshay Kumar's 'Khel Khel Mein' are competing at the box office in the long weekend starting from August 15. It is shown that Shraddha is on top in advance booking and Akshay Kumar has slipped to the third position.
By Monday morning, 1.27 lakh tickets of 'Stree 2' had been sold and it has collected 4.20 crores in advance booking. John Abraham's 'Veda' is not far behind with 6065 tickets and its collection so far is Rs 18.34 lakh. While Akshay Kumar's 'Khel Khel Mein' has sold only 2215 tickets till Monday morning and its collection has barely reached 9.30 lakhs. Akshay is currently at number three. However, box office insiders believe that Akshay Kumar can overtake John Abraham by the time of release. Of course, the chances of him being overtaken by 'Stree 2' have reduced. According to trade circles, 50 percent of the screens in Ashbourne are to be occupied by the film 'Stree 2'. While the remaining 50 percent screens will be shared between 'Khel Khel Mein' and 'Veda'.
'Stree 2' is clearly benefiting from the credibility of its first part. Apart from his loyal fans, Akshay Kumar also has to rely on word of mouth publicity.
