Chandigarh, June 1 (HS). In Amritsar, Punjab, two bike-borne assailants opened fire on an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker and his companions on Friday evening. One person died in the incident, while four people were injured. The injured have been admitted to the hospital.
The incident took place in Lakhuwal village under Ajnala in Amritsar. Deep Inder Singh Deepu Sarkaria, a youth associated with AAP, was sitting outside his house with his friends. Around 8:30 pm, two unknown youth came there on a bike and started firing. Both of them had pistols.
After the incident, the injured were rushed to the hospital. During this, Deep Inder Singh was declared dead by the doctors. Meanwhile, 4 injured are being treated in a private hospital in Gurdaspur.
SSP Satinder Singh reached the spot and took stock of the situation. After this, he directed the local police to investigate. The police have currently started scanning the nearby CCTVs so that information about the accused can be obtained.
