Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan visited the flood-affected areas of Krishna district and listened to the pain of the affected people and assured them of resolving the problems. Union Minister Shivraj Singh inspected the damaged paddy crop in Kesarpalli. Chauhan was accompanied by Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, State Minister Kollu Ravindra, Achennaidu, MLAs Yarlagadda Venkatrao, Sujana Chowdhary, BJP State President Purandeswari and others. Special teams of the Army are working to repair the wall of Budameru Canal and fill the leakage. Chauhan said that he spoke to the flood victims. The affected people told Minister Chauhan that they are getting milk, water, food… everything. The assistance being provided to the victims is being monitored. The Chief Minister himself is also monitoring it. After the water level has receded, the work of cleaning the area and removing the mud accumulated in the houses is being done on a war footing. Union Minister Chauhan said that special teams of the Animal Husbandry Department are working to remove the carcasses of cattle and assess the damage.
Chouhan alleged that the previous government did not pay the premium of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, which caused great injustice to the farmers. He said that at present the NDA government in the state is paying the premium, which will provide insurance assistance to the farmers. He informed that due to heavy rains and floods, crops on 1.81 lakh hectares were damaged. As a result, 2.05 lakh farmers suffered losses worth Rs 1,056 crore. Damage to 19,453 hectares of horticulture crops in 12 districts affected 30,154 farmers. Due to heavy rains in the state, 3,756 km of roads were damaged.
During this, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu requested Union Minister Shivraj Singh that five works were approved in the year 2019 for the repair and improvement of the Budameru river, the previous state government had canceled them. Their non-completion caused such serious damage. He said that the capacity of water flow released from Prakasam Barrage should be increased to 15 lakh cusecs and the embankments should be strengthened.
