Short-circuit will not cause fire in Mahakumbh, Purvanchal Discom made extensive preparations

Varanasi, 04 December (HS). Purvanchal Discom has also made extensive preparations for uninterrupted power supply in Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025. Purvanchal Discom has given concrete form to a special strategy to leave its mark at the global level in the great festival which is a symbol of faith and culture. Extensive preparations have been made to prevent the occurrence of fire due to short-circuit in the fair area. In the camp, wiring is being done through conduit pipes only. Along with this, pamphlets giving guidelines for electrical safety precautions are also being distributed. Specially for uninterrupted power supply, construction of 182 km HT line, construction of 1405 km LT line, construction of 170 nos. 11/0.4 KV 400 KVA sub-stations, construction of 14 nos. 11/04 KV 250 KVA sub-stations have been done. Besides, construction of 128 Nos. 11/0.4 KV 100 KVA sub-stations, work of electrification and LED installation on 30 Nos. pontoon bridges, construction of sub-stations, installation of 67000 LED street lights and 425000 nos. camp connections are also being done. To provide reliable power supply during the 45-day cultural extravaganza, alternative sources have also been made at all places. Which will be supplied from various 07 transmission sub-stations and 14 nos. 33/11 KV sub-stations. Automatic RMUs have been installed at important sources, so that in case of power interruption, power supply can be normalized in just 30 seconds. Apart from this, DG sets have been installed at important 11/0.4 KV sub-stations as an alternative source for street lighting.

Guarding and earthing of LT lines also

According to officials of Purvanchal Discom, in view of the safety of crores of devotees and visitors in Maha Kumbh, guarding of all HT and LT lines and earthing of HT and LT poles has been done in the fair area.

Use of hybrid solar street lights also

Hybrid solar street lights are being used as a new experiment in Maha Kumbh, so that energy consumption can be reduced. Apart from this, in order to complete the infrastructure related works timely, high mast lights energized with DG sets are being used in places where electricity system is not available.

Construction of 1 no. 33/11 KV New Bailey sub-centre of 2 times MVA capacity under permanent works for uninterrupted power supply to the fair area as well as the urban area during Maha Kumbh, total 4 nos. link 33 KV lines for the most important sub-centres of the city. In place of 20 overloaded transformers, 98 numbers of 11/04 KV distribution transformers of different capacities have been installed. Apart from this, a total of 13 nos of Akhara lines and 36 nos of transformers coming in the way of Peshwai traditionally have been removed from the plinth, 75 nos of 250 KVA transformers have been installed and the poles along the complete routes of Peshwai and Mela have been rectified.
