Shoriful Islam ruled out of second Test against Pakistan with back injury | News India

Rawalpindi, August 31 (HS). Bangladesh fast bowler Shoriful Islam has been ruled out of the second Test against Pakistan due to a back injury. After winning the toss, which took place on the second day today, Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto said that Taskin Ahmed has been included in the final 11 in place of Shoriful.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said in a statement on Saturday, “Bangladesh fast bowler Shoriful Islam has a back strain and could not be considered for selection in the second Test match against Pakistan which started today (Saturday) in Rawalpindi. The left-arm fast bowler complained of discomfort in the back area after the first match and the injury was confirmed in the tests conducted later.”

“Shoriful underwent an MRI after the first Test and the results showed a grade 1 left adductor strain. Such cases usually take around 10 days to recover. He has started his rehab,” Bangladesh physio Baijedul Islam Khan said in a statement.
