What is Intraday Trading: Among intraday traders in the stock market, married traders have managed to achieve better results than unmarried ones. This result has been found in a study conducted by SEBI for intra-day traders. Also, women have been able to earn more profits than male traders in case of intra-day trading. This fact has come to light in a study of SEBI on intra-day trading in equity cash section continent. Both buying and selling of a stock in one trading session is called intra-day.
Married people suffer less intraday losses
According to the study, apart from married and single traders, there are significant differences in trading behaviour and results between male and female traders. SEBI has found that intra-day married people outperform unmarried ones in several key areas in the equity cash segment. Married traders incurred lower intraday losses than unmarried traders during financial years 2018-19, 2021-22 and 2022-23. During 2022-23, 75 per cent of unmarried entrepreneurs were running in losses, while the number of married entrepreneurs running in losses was 67 per cent.
Married people also made more deals
Apart from this, married businessmen also did a large number of deals. An important aspect of SEBI's study is the comparative analysis of male and female businessmen. The proportion of female entrepreneurs who consistently made profits in the last few years was higher than that of male entrepreneurs. According to the study report, 'The proportion of profit-making in the group of female entrepreneurs was higher than that of the group of male entrepreneurs in all three years.'
Average loss Rs. 38,570
During FY 2022-23, male traders with annual intraday turnover of more than Rs 1 crore lost an average of Rs 38,570, while female traders lost an average of Rs 22,153 during the period. However, the proportion of women among 'intra-day' traders has declined from 20 per cent in FY 2018-19 to 16 per cent in FY 2022-23.
SEBI has found in its study that the lower the age group of traders, the higher the loss ratio. At the same time, traders in the older age group had a lower loss ratio. The study also revealed that seven out of 10 intra-day traders in the equity cash segment incurred losses in FY 2022-23.
