Actress Sreelekha Mitra: The entertainment world is in a state of turmoil at this time. In fact, after the Justice Hema Committee report came out, a controversy has erupted in the industry. Let us tell you that this report has exposed the dark truth of the Malayalam film industry and exposed the cases of harassment and exploitation of women. As soon as it came out, there has been an uproar on social media.
Meanwhile, Bengali actress Srilekha Mitra has also spoken out her age-old pain and accused noted Malayalam director and chairman of the state-run Kerala Chalachitra Academy Ranjith of misbehaviour.
Speaking to the media, Srilekha Mitra told about this incident that happened in the year 2009 and said that she had met Ranjit at his house in connection with a film, where she did not like the director's behavior. She felt uncomfortable talking to Ranjit about the story of the film. Srilekha said, 'He was on a call. There were a lot of people there. He was talking on the phone to the cinematographer with whom I had worked. He asked me if I wanted to talk to him (cinematographer) and then took me to another room.
A disgusting allegation on a famous director
The actress said that Ranjit took her to the bedroom, which was dark and had a balcony. He (Ranjit) was standing next to me while I was talking to the cinematographer on the phone. He was playing with my bangles and touching my skin. Women have six senses. I felt uncomfortable, but I thought maybe it was just my imagination. I thought maybe I was thinking too much and he just wanted to see my bangles. I didn't feel good with them. The room was dark. He thought I was not reacting and not removing his hand, so he tried to play with my hair and neck. Then I came out of the room. I was not surprised. I know how things go in the industry. There are both good and bad people.
The director rejected the allegations
Along with this, Ranjit has completely rejected these allegations of Srilekha. He clarified that Srilekha had come to him for a film audition. Film producer Shankar Ramakrishnan and others were present in that flat. This alleged incident did not happen there. We did not like her performance and this was made clear to her. It is her conspiracy to create this controversy at this time. If she takes legal action against me, she will get the same answer.
Along with this, on the allegations of Srilekha Mitra, Kerala's Minister of Cultural Affairs Saji Cherian said that the state government will not protect any person doing wrong. If the allegations against Ranjit are proved, action will be taken against him. He said that a case cannot be registered on the basis of mere allegations. Meanwhile, Kerala State Women's Commission Chairperson P Satidevi said that if the allegations are proved, Ranjit will have to resign from the post of Chairman of Kerala Chalachitra Academy.
