Ranchi: The Communist Party of India (CPI) has announced that it will contest the Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand by separating from the opposition alliance Bharat. On Sunday evening, he announced that out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state, he would contest alone on eight seats. However, till now not a single CPI MP from Jharkhand has gone to the Lok Sabha. However, the CPI split has dealt a major blow to the unity of the India Alliance. On one hand, CPI has targeted the working style of Congress and on the other hand, JMM has started attacking CPI.
CPI state general secretary Mahendra Pathak said, “We are going to contest the Lok Sabha elections alone. BJP has already announced its candidates. But Congress and the Grand Alliance have not yet started the discussion on seat sharing. Therefore, we have decided to contest the elections alone. The state committee of the party has decided to field candidates from Ranchi Hazari Bagh, Koderma, Chatra, Palayu, Giridit, Dumka and Jamshedpur.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMUMO) spokesperson Manoj Pandey has said that, I do not understand whether the state unit can take such a decision? Discussion is going on at the national level regarding seat distribution.
It is noteworthy that out of 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state, BJP had 11, All Jharkhand Students Union (OJSU) had 1, JMM had 1 and Congress had 1 seat. However, the lone Congress MP Geeta Koda has recently joined BJP.
