Punjabis dreaming of settling in Canada are going to get a big shock. In fact, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in Canada has announced an increase in fees for some applicants from next month. According to a report, the new rates will be applicable from April 30. These are based on the country's Immigrant and Refugee Protection Regulation (IRPR), which is calculated by taking into account Canada's Consumer Price Index.
According to the report, this fee will be applicable between April 2024 and March 2026. According to the report, the Government of Canada, in a gazette notification issued on March 30, has announced an increase of about 12 percent in the permanent residence fees from the end of this month. The permanent residence application fee will increase from C$515 to C$575, while the application cost for federal skilled workers and Quebec skilled workers will increase to C$950.
According to the report, more than 118,000 Indians settled in Canada under the permanent residence program in 2022, which is about 27 percent of the total new residents. China lags behind India with only 31,841 permanent residents. The report said that the recent souring in diplomatic relations between India and Canada could impact the number of applications in 2023.
