Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Lok Sabha election dates can be announced any time after March 13. In such a situation, the ruling party BJP is busy in its election preparations. In such a situation, BJP held a meeting of the core group of states on Wednesday (February 28), after which the first list of Lok Sabha candidates is expected to be revealed soon.
As part of the candidate selection process for the Lok Sabha elections, a meeting of the core group of various states was held at the party headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday, in which party chief JP Nadda and the Home Minister were present. Amit Shah discussed the panel of names recommended by the respective state units with the leaders.
News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that before the meeting of the party's Central Election Committee on Thursday, apart from the Union Territory of Delhi, the core committee meeting of many states including Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Assam was held.
In such a situation, the party can announce more than 100 names in the next few days. Sources said that the names of top party leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are likely to be in the first list. It is being said that initially the party can also focus on those states where it is contesting elections on its own. The first list may also include some seats lost by BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Sources said the BJP in Uttar Pradesh has discussed candidates for the 14 Lok Sabha seats it lost in 2019 and the first list may include around 40 names from the electorally crucial state. The first list may include all the names of western Uttar Pradesh and some seats in the Awadh and Purvanchal regions of the state.
According to sources, the recommendations made by the state unit in Madhya Pradesh to the central leadership include the names of prominent leaders including former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and senior party officials Kailash Vijayvargiya and Narottam Mishra.
Apart from this, the first list for Rajasthan may have 15 names including some prominent leaders. Names of some senior leaders and party officials are also expected to be in the Odisha list.
