On Monday, in the Rajya Sabha, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan attacked the Congress party on the issue of farmers' suicide. Shivraj Singh said, 'I had said that if you tease me, I will not leave you. When there was a Congress government in various states, farmers were killed.
Digvijay Singh's hands are stained with blood. He has killed 24 farmers.' A discussion was going on in the Rajya Sabha about the functioning of the Agriculture Ministry. During the discussion on Friday, the Agriculture Minister stood up to take forward the answer which was left incomplete. He said that not only small but also marginal farmers have been empowered through the Kisan Samman Nidhi. Their respect has increased. When the Agriculture Minister was answering, Congress member Randeep Surjewala repeatedly attacked him and accused the BJP government of ordering firing on farmers.
Incidents of firing on farmers during Congress rule were counted
The Agriculture Minister started counting the incidents of firing on farmers during the Congress rule. He said that in 1986, when the Congress government was in power, 23 farmers were killed in firing in Bihar. In 1988, two farmers were killed in firing in Delhi on Indira Gandhi's anniversary. In 1988, farmers were fired upon in Meerut and five farmers were killed. On 23 August 1995, the Congress government opened fire in Haryana and 6 farmers died. On 19 January 1998, the Congress government of Madhya Pradesh opened fire and killed 24 farmers.
