Like every year, this year also the festival of Shiva Navratri will be celebrated with great pomp in the world famous Jyotirlinga Lord Mahakaleshwar temple located in Ujjain. It is starting from today (Thursday). During this festival which runs till Mahashivratri on March 8, Lord Mahakal will appear to the devotees in different forms for nine days. That is, for nine days of Shiva-Navratri, God will be decorated attractively in nine forms.
Sandeep Kumar Soni, administrator of Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee, said in this regard that the court of Lord Mahakal is unique. All the festivals in the country start from the courtyard of Baba Mahakal. The excitement of Mahashivratri festival is also visible for the entire nine days. Here Shiva Navratri festival is celebrated from Falgun Krishna Panchami to Trayodashi on Mahashivratri.
He told that today Shiv Navratri is starting with the worship of Shiv Panchami. First of all, the priest will perform Abhishek-worship and offer turmeric to Shri Koteshwar Mahakal located near Kotitirtha Kund. After about one and a half hour of worship, Lord Mahakal will be worshiped in the sanctum sanctorum from 9.30 am. The priest will offer Panchamrit Abhishek to Lord Mahakal and worship him. After this Rudrapath will be performed by 11 Brahmins. Later there will be Bhog Aarti at 1 pm. After the evening puja at 3 o'clock, the Lord will be specially decorated in different forms for nine days.
He also said that during Shivnavratri, Lord Mahakal will be adorned in nine forms for nine days. On the first day, Lord Mahakal will be adorned with sandalwood. Lord will be made to wear Sola Dupatta. Will be adorned with jewelery like crown, mundamala and umbrella etc. Sheshnag makeup on the second day, Ghatatop makeup on the third day, Chhabina makeup on the fourth day, Holkar look on the fifth day, Manmahesh look on the sixth day, Uma Mahesh makeup on the seventh day, Shivtandav makeup on the eighth day and Saptadhan makeup on the ninth day on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
In Mahakal Temple, Bhog Aarti is held every day at 10:30 am and Sandhya Puja is held at 5 pm. Due to the special order of worship during Shiva Navratri, Bhog Aarti will be held at 1 pm and evening puja will be held at 3 pm. The temple priests will also keep fast for nine days of Shiva Navratri. After the completion of the great festival, the temple committee will organize Paran on March 9.
