Tension in Mahayuti: Cabinet expansion took place in Maharashtra 10 days after the election results. In the Devendra Fadnavis government, all the parties included in the grand alliance have got more space than the previous government. In which 12 ministers of Shiv Sena and 10 of NCP are included in the government. However, all the parties have a long list of disgruntled leaders. The effect of which is visible on NCP and Shiv Sena.

grand alliance in crisis

11 senior ministers of Shinde government were dropped from Fadnavis cabinet. Besides, many big contenders for ministerial posts have also been put in the waiting list of two and a half years. Many MLAs from the three parties of Mahayuti, BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP, were disappointed. Now he is giving speeches and giving indications of rebellion, which means that a big crisis is going to come for the heads of the parties included in the grand alliance government.

Cabinet expansion includes 25 new faces

In the Devendra Fadnavis cabinet reshuffle in Nagpur, 11 ministers have been dropped from the Shinde government and 25 new faces have been inducted. Ajit Pawar’s NCP fielded a maximum of five former ministers. Chhagan Bhujbal, Sanjay Bansode, Anil Patil, Dharmarao Baba Atram and Dilip Walse Patil did not get a place in the cabinet. While BJP’s Ravindra Chavan, Sudhir Mungantiwar and Vijay Kumar Gavit and Shiv Sena’s Abdul Sattar, Deepak Kesarkar and Tanaji Sawant have been kept in the waiting list.

Shiv Sena MLAs raised questions on Shinde’s leadership

Even without getting ministerial post, Shiv Sena MLAs have started making statements. In which MLA Narendra Bhondekar expressed his displeasure by resigning from the party post before taking oath in Nagpur. Now Purandar MLA Vijay Shivtare has announced that, ‘I will not accept the post of minister even after two and a half years. Also, I have no regrets about not getting a ministerial post. But I am saddened by the way I was treated.

Shivtare gave a statement that, ‘Workers are not anyone’s slaves. Maharashtra is being pushed on the path of Bihar, where caste of leaders is being considered instead of regional balance.

At the same time, MLA Prakash Surve, who was a partner in Eknath Shinde’s rebellion against Uddhav, has also become one of the critics. Surve said, ‘I have achieved something only by struggling and will continue to struggle. Many people in the cabinet are children of big leaders, not me.

NCP-Shiv Sena leaders have options

Political experts believe that the leaders of all the parties in the grand alliance have the courage not to become ministers, but its impact will be more visible in Shiv Sena and NCP. Both parties can move forward on the strength of the government. When Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde broke the party, their aim was to form the government.

The recent problem of Mahayuti is that BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP have won major elections with good strike rates. BJP is a national party. In such a situation, disappointed BJP leaders have no option but to be patient. NCP-Shiv Sena leaders have the option to return to their parent party. Defection is possible during civic elections.
