Shivaji Maharaj statue fall controversy: Politics in Maharashtra has heated up after the incident of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj falling in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. The statue was unveiled in December last year on Navy Day in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, both Deputy CMs Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis. At that time, the BJP had also shouted that the blessings of Chhatrapati are with PM Modi. Now, 8 months after the unveiling, the politics of the state has heated up over the falling of the statue.

Mahayuti government on back foot

After the Chhatrapati Shivaji statue, the reaction of the Mahayuti government of Maharashtra was not uniform. The first reaction in this matter came from CM Eknath Shinde. He had earlier said, 'This statue has been built by the Navy, not by the Maharashtra government. The statue was unveiled on Navy Day, we were supporting the Navy.' He also said, 'This happened due to strong wind.' However, after the controversy in this matter increased, today (August 29) CM Shinde has apologized and announced to build a bigger statue as soon as possible.

Ajit Pawar also apologized

Regarding this incident, Ajit Pawar said in a public rally on Wednesday (August 28), 'He apologizes to the people of Maharashtra, the incident that happened is wrong, action will be taken and a new statue will be installed there as soon as possible.'

What did Devendra Fadnavis say?

In this regard, Devendra Fadnavis said, 'The statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was built by the Navy, it is possible that the persons responsible for the construction and installation of the statue have ignored important factors like high wind speed and quality of iron. There is also a possibility of rusting of the statue due to exposure to sea air.'

What did the PWD department say in the FIR?

However, after the statue fell, the PWD department of the Maharashtra government has filed an FIR. It was said that the PWD department had given the contract to a sculptor who is a resident of Thane to make the statue. Later it also came to light that the responsibility of maintaining the statue lies with the PWD department of the Maharashtra government. Due to which the matter became more heated. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government tried to shirk the responsibility and put the responsibility on the Navy.

Three questions to the government in this matter

Three questions are being asked from Saras in this case. First, was the statue erected in a hurry? Second, if the Prime Minister himself came to unveil the statue, did BJP-NCP and Shiv Sena do this for political gain? And the third question, if the statue fell in 8 months, was the statue not built properly or was there some irregularity in awarding the contract?
