Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra accused of fraud, court orders investigation on businessman's complaint

Actress Shilpa Shetty's husband and businessman Raj Kundra came into the limelight in the pornographic video case in the year 2021 and has been stuck in this case for a long time. After this, once again the state seems to be embroiled in a new controversy. This time the name of actress Shilpa Shetty is also being linked with him. A bullion trader has accused the couple of fraud, after which the Mumbai Sessions Court has ordered an inquiry against both of them.

After the complaint of bullion trader Prithviraj Sreemmal Kothari, Sessions Court Judge NP Mehta has directed Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to investigate the allegations. Apart from this, the court has said in its order that if the allegations are proved right after the investigation, then the police should register an FIR under all the necessary sections of the IPC and properly interrogate the actress and her husband Khalif.

The court said that if the accused have committed any crime, then the police can take necessary action against both of them. Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra are said to be the founders of a company called Satyug Gold Private Limited, and the lawyer appearing for Kothari said that a scheme was launched in 2014, under which investors could apply for it. Full payment has to be made at a discounted rate of gold and on the maturity date a certain amount of gold will be given to the person.

Lawyers of the aggrieved bullion traders say that reading such a scheme will make it clear that the gold will be given to the concerned director regardless of the current market price, which is enough to show that there is no guarantee on the basis of which such a scheme was made. According to reports, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra met Kothari and assured him of providing gold on time. Trusting both of them, Kothari had invested Rs 90 lakh in this scheme. Under this, he was promised 5000 grams of 24 carat gold on completion of 5 years on 2 April 2019. He was told that gold would be made available to him regardless of the market price, but after 5 years Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra's company did not fulfill their promise and neither did Kothari take gold from their company. In such a situation, now the court has ordered an inquiry against Raj and Shilpa Shetty in this matter.
