Share Market Open: Share market opens at record high, Sensex crosses 74,200 points

New Delhi: Both the stock market indices reached new highs in Wednesday's trading session. Even today Sensex opened with gains. Both the indices opened in the green. The effect of this rise in the stock market has also been seen on the Indian currency.

Today the Sensex opened 50 points or 0.09 percent higher at 74,146.46. Nifty also opened at 22,496, up 20.20 points or 0.09 per cent.

Top gainers and losers

Among Sensex companies, shares of JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Asian Paints and State Bank of India rose. At the same time, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank are trading with a decline.

In Asian markets, decline was seen in Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong. On Wednesday, US markets closed in positive territory.

According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 2,766.75 crore on Wednesday. Global oil benchmark Brent crude fell 0.13 percent to $82.85 a barrel.
