Share Market Closing: Indian stock market closed in red, Sensex-Nifty fell | News India

On the second day of the week i.e. Tuesday (September 3), the Indian stock market closed with a slight decline. In today's session, heavy buying was seen in the stocks of banking and consumer durables sector. Midcap and smallcap stocks also saw gains in today's session, taking the market cap to an all-time high. At the close of the market, the BSE Sensex closed at 82,555 points and the Nifty closed flat at 25,279 points.

Sector Updates

Heavy buying was seen in consumer durables stocks in today's trading, due to which the Nifty Consumer Durables Index closed with a gain of 538 points. Due to buying in banking stocks, the Nifty Bank Index closed with a gain of more than 250 points. Apart from this, buying was also seen in pharma stocks. While IT, auto, FMCG, metal, energy, real estate sector stocks closed with a decline. Buying was seen in midcap and smallcap stocks in today's session and both Nifty indices closed with gains.

Market cap at all-time high

The market cap reached a record high due to a rally in the Indian stock market, especially in banking and buying in mid-cap and small-cap stocks. The market cap of the stocks listed on the BSE is Rs. 465.48 lakh crore, an all-time high. In the previous session, the market cap was Rs. 464.85 lakh crore. In today's session, the market cap saw a jump of Rs. 63,000 crore.
