  • Maha Ashtami 2026 date and time: According to the Panchang, the Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month will start on October 18 at 08:27 AM, while this date will end on October 19 at 10:51 AM. Based on Udaya Tithi, Maha Ashtami will be celebrated on 19 October 2026.

  • Mahanavami 2026 date and time: Navami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month will start on October 19 at 10:51 am and end on October 20 at 12:50 pm. According to the rules of Udaya Tithi, Mahanavami and Kanya Puja will be performed on 20 October 2026.

To please Mother Goddess and get her blessings, the rules of Kanya Puja should be followed with full devotion. The complete method of Kanya Puja is as follows:

  • Respectfully invite: On the day of Kanya Puja, invite girls to your home with respect and honor. Welcome them at the door of the house.

  • Washing phase: When girls enter the house, wash their feet with water and wipe them gently with a clean towel.

  • Asana and Tilak: Make the girls sit comfortably on a clean and sacred seat facing north. After this, apply tilak of Kumkum, Roli and Akshat to all the girls and tie Kalava (Protection Sutra) on their right hand.

  • Aarti and Bhog: Light a lamp of pure ghee and lovingly perform aarti for all the girls and shower flowers on them. After this, serve the satvik food (puri, chana and halwa) offered to the mother with devotion.

  • Blessings and Dakshina: After serving food, touch the feet of all the girls and seek their blessings and offer them gifts or Dakshina (flowers, clothes or money) as per your capacity. At the end, pray for forgiveness from Mata Rani and the girls for any mistakes made during the puja.
