Name plate controversy: Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of Jyoti Math has strongly objected to the decision of the CM Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in UP regarding the Kavad Yatra. Ahead of the by-elections, he raised the rule (which sparked the canteen controversy) and said that it should not have been brought in suddenly.

Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of Jyoti Math said, you should not suddenly bring such a rule. He further suggested to the government that Shiksha Varg should have been organized first. Kavadias should have been trained.

According to Avimukteshwaranand, Kawadias should have been explained that according to the scriptures, purity is necessary but you are playing DJ. You are pushing them. In such a situation, how will religious sentiments come in Kawadias. We feel that making such a rule will spread hatred.

Shankaracharya said, “Many Hindus will say what are we talking about on our views but we will tell the truth. How can we say that this is right? When you create Hindu-Muslim sentiments, differences will arise among people. They will always see things from a Hindu-Muslim perspective and there will be bitterness and conflict.”

Avimukteshwarananda said, today people do not even think about who made it and with what feeling. Earlier people were thinking. Common Hindu does not think like this now. People are not made aware about this. So this is happening. For this you will have to create an environment.

While giving suggestions, Shankaracharya further said, demonetization has caused so much trouble. It is not right to do anything suddenly in the meantime. The atmosphere should have been created first. An explanation should have been given. Can't the government influence Hindus to organize langar? Don't the people of the society come forward for Kavadia on the government's orders?

Questioning the government's decision, Shankaracharya said that those who have suddenly implemented this rule have politics in their mind. Those who are defining it in this way are also doing politics. Both are working to divide. The opposition should know how to define it in a better way. In such a situation, there is no one to handle it. Creating poison in everyone's mind. This is the policy of divide and rule.

Let us tell you that before Shravan, UP had issued an order, which said that the eateries on the Kavad Yatra route will have to display the names of the owners. Earlier this rule was for Muzaffarnagar Police, but later the state government implemented it for the entire state.
