Jammu, 21 October (Hindustan Reporter). Shankaracharya of Uttar Peeth (Astrology) Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati Ji Maharaj reached Jammu on Monday on a two-day visit. During this time, in the evening he along with his 100 sadhus reached the court of Mata Bawe Wali and took the blessings of Mata. On reaching Jammu, JKPCC working president and former minister Raman Bhalla welcomed him. On Tuesday, after 2 pm, Shankaracharya ji will give darshan to the devotees at the residence of Raman Bhalla and will mesmerize the devotees with his sermons.
Meanwhile, veteran Congress leader Raman Bhalla has appealed to the followers to come for darshan of Shankaracharya on Tuesday and seek his blessings. Swami Avimukteshwaranand is always active to protect Saraswati Ganga and cows. When temples were demolished in Varanasi for the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, he protested against it. He went on a long fast in 2008 to declare Ganga as the national river. He was admitted to the hospital when his health deteriorated. He ended his fast on the instructions of his Guru. With his inspiration, he took education up to the level of Acharya in the subject of Naval Grammar in Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Kashi. During this period, students also remained active in politics. Sampurnanand was elected to the post of General Secretary of the Students Union in Sanskrit University. On 15 April 2003, Umashankar was initiated into Danda Sannyasa and was named Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati. He has the entire command of Srividyamath located at Kedarghat.
