Shankar Das Bairagi resigned from the post of National Security Advisor of Nepal

Kathmandu, July 31 (HS). Nepal's National Security Advisor Shankar Das Bairagi resigned from his post today. Bairagi was appointed as National Security Advisor in the National Security Council under the Prime Minister only 6 months ago.

With the change in power coalition and government leadership in Nepal, news has come of the resignation of National Security Advisor Shankar Das Vairagi. Krishnahari Pushkar, who was the Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office, has confirmed Vairagi's resignation. He said that Vairagi's resignation had come on 24 July itself but it has been accepted in today's cabinet meeting.

Shankar Das Bairagi's name was widely discussed to be sent as Nepal's ambassador to India till a few days ago, but the government has decided to continue the current ambassador Dr. Shankar Sharma. It is being told that his resignation has been taken because of his appointment by the Prachanda government. He was appointed by Prachanda by creating the post of National Security Advisor during his tenure.

Vairagi, who was once Nepal's foreign secretary, has also been the country's chief secretary. After he resigned from the post of chief secretary six months before the end of his tenure, the then prime minister Prachanda appointed him to the post of security adviser by creating a special post.
