Bangladesh’s legendary all-rounder and former captain Shakib Al Hasan has been accused of illegal bowling action in the last stages of his career. This matter came to light during domestic cricket in England, after which he was suspended from bowling. Now he had to pass the test of his bowling action, in which he had to face failure. In this situation, his chances of continuing bowling are decreasing.
Recently, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) informed that the former captain has been suspended from bowling in all competitions. Last month, Shakib had an independent assessment test conducted at the Sri Ramachandra Center for Sports Science in Chennai after he failed to clear the initial test in England.
BCB issued a statement saying that Shakib has been allowed to play as a batsman. However, he will not be a part of the team in the ICC Champions Trophy. According to reports, Shakib has retired from T20 and Test cricket, and now the road ahead has become difficult for him.
BCB had said in an official media release after the failure in the first test, “The player’s current suspension will continue following an initial independent assessment at the Test Center at Loughborough University in England. A successful reassessment is required to lift the bowling suspension. “Although Shakib is currently unable to bowl, he can continue to play as a batsman in all forms of domestic and international cricket.”
