Severe flood in the country of 1,00,000 Indians, 267 dead, lakhs displaced, India sent aid

Kenya flood news : Floods have wreaked havoc in Kenya. Out of 47 counties in the African country, 38 counties are reported to be affected. According to government figures, so far 267 people have died in the devastating floods while more than 2,80,000 people have been displaced. Meanwhile, India has sent 40 tonnes of relief material for relief and rehabilitation in the flood affected areas of Kenya. It is said that the population of people of Indian origin in Kenya is between 80 thousand to 100 thousand.

What did India send as aid?

The cargo includes 22 tonnes of relief material such as tents, sleeping bags and mats, blankets, power generation sets, ready-to-eat food, basic hygiene facilities and hygiene kits, outer cases. Apart from this, 18 tonnes of medical aid is also included in the consignment. This includes life-saving medicines and surgical equipment needed for critical care and treatment of people. Essential items like baby food, water purification, menstrual hygiene and mosquito repellents, malaria and dengue diagnostic kits, anti-venom treatments and various testing kits are also included.

Foreign Minister gave information

Sharing the post on Twitter, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote, 'The second consignment of HADR sent to flood-affected people in Kenya includes 40 tonnes of medicines, medical supplies and other equipment. We are in favor of historical partnership and world brotherhood. Indian High Commissioner to Kenya Namajya Khampa handed over the relief material to Cabinet Secretary Mercy Wenzhou. Earlier on May 10 also, a consignment of relief material was delivered to Kenya from Indian Navy ship Sumedha.

India took pity on him

A statement issued by India said that the assistance to Kenya is a reaffirmation of the strong and friendly relations with the country in the spirit of Southern Cooperation and our commitment to keep Africa at the top of our priorities. India has expressed its deepest condolences to the Government and people of Kenya for the loss and destruction caused by the floods.
