Seven former naval officers have returned to India but one officer has not yet received permission to leave Qatar

Eight Indian Navy officers jailed in Qatar on espionage charges have been released two weeks ago. Seven of these officers have also returned to India. However, the eighth officer, Commander Purnendru Tiwari, has not returned home yet.

A case against Commander Tiwari is still pending and the verdict is awaited. Due to which they have not yet been allowed to leave the queue. However, they have been allowed to return to their homes in Qatar after the Qatari government announced their release.

An English newspaper of India has claimed that after the matter is resolved, he can return to India in the current week or next week. However, no announcement will be made in advance.

It is noteworthy that a Qatari court had sentenced eight Indian officers to death on charges of spying on behalf of Israel and this had created an uproar in India. However, after the intervention of the Government of India, all these officers were released. The Indian government also thanked the Emir of Qatar for this.
