Washington: Punjabi Samosa has been served at White House dinners for some time now. But now Pani-Puri, which is very dear to Indians, has also entered it. It was served twice at the banquet held last year. It was served two to five times this year at President Joe Biden's dinner in the Rose Garden of the White House. Pani-puri was a favorite at the presidential lunch Monday celebrating Asian-American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander heritage.
Many Asian-Americans were present at the banquet. Among them, Indian Americans were the largest number. In this, Dr. who reached the post of Surgeon-General of America. Till now only Punjabi Samosa was in the menu of White House, but now Pani-Puri has also taken entry.
Indian community leader Ajay Jain Bhutoria said that after the dinner he met White House chief chef Chrisetta Comerford and praised her for the food. And asked whether they also make pani-puri in the White House? Then he replied with surprise that we create everything. We also make a sweet-dish called 'Khoya'.
Bhutoria further said that Pani-Puri has now reached even five-star hotels from the footpath.
It is also mandatory in the banquet organized by the Ministry of External Affairs. Punjabi samosas and pani-puri are also a must at the dinner parties held at Vice President Kamala Harris's residence.
Before the banquet, Indians sang the song 'Saare Jahan Se Achha Hindustan Hamara'.
