Sensex rose 2303 points to reach 74382

Mumbai: In the results of the Lok Sabha elections, BJP did not get a clear majority and due to the alliance, NDA was forced to form the government. Yesterday, Tuesday was a bad day for investors. NDA's key allies Chandrababu Naidu's TDP and Nitish Kumar's JDU have given a clear assurance of support to Narendra Modi, now that NDA's hat-trick government has been formed, the fund has reduced the gains with the U-turn in the stocks. Sensex crossed the 74,000 level again due to aggressive buying especially in banking-finance frontline stocks, automobile, consumer durables, metal-mining, healthcare, FMCG stocks and selective gains in oil-gas, power, capital goods stocks, which eventually rose 2303.19 points to close at 74382.24 while Nifty 50 spot again crossed the 22500 level and finally closed at 22620.35 with a jump of 735.85 points.

In banking-finance stocks, the BSE Bankex index closed 2251.97 points higher at 55829.05 on value buying by funds with reduced short covering in private bank stocks. Indusind Bank rose Rs 107.95 to Rs 1500.70, Federal Bank rose Rs 11.90 to Rs 166.45, IDFC First Bank rose Rs 4.78 to Rs 77.32, AU Small Finance Bank rose Rs 35.75 to Rs 665, Kotak Mahindra Bank rose Rs 80.15 to Rs 1718.75, Axis Bank rose Rs 52.80 to Rs 1184.60, HDFC Bank rose Rs 68.55 to Rs 1551.30, Bank of Baroda rose Rs 11.25 to Rs 259.50. , ICICI Bank rose by Rs 35.50 to Rs 1108.70, State Bank of India rose by Rs 14.45 to Rs 789.65.

Short covering in auto stocks

Shares of automobile companies witnessed a rise today with short covering. Ashok Leyland rose by Rs 16.25 to Rs 224.10, Madrasan Sumi rose by Rs 10.10 to Rs 151.95, Hero Motocorp rose by Rs 361.25 to Rs 5673.10, Mahindra & Mahindra rose by Rs 167.20 to Rs 2742.65, TVS Motor rose by Rs 140.60 to Rs 2351.80, MRF rose by Rs 6004 to Rs 1,27,837.60, Bosch rose by Rs 1252.05 to Rs 30,824, Apollo Tyres rose by Rs 17.30 to Rs 468.55, Cummins India rose by Rs 123 to Rs 3364.50, Bajaj Auto rose by Rs 291.45 to Rs 9557.10, Maruti Suzuki rose by Rs 365.55 to Rs 12,486.15. BSE Auto index closed at 55002.74, up 2369.05 points.

Metal index jumped 1635 points

Metal-mining stocks also took a hit today and funds gauged sharp gains with short covering. BSE Metal index closed 1635.33 points higher at 32120.53. SAIL rose Rs 12.35 to Rs 145.55, Hindalco rose Rs 47.95 to Rs 694.80, Tata Steel rose Rs 10.40 to Rs 169.20, Vedanta rose Rs 24 to Rs 441.35, Jindal Steel rose Rs 44.70 to Rs 1004. JSW Steel rose Rs 35.40 to Rs 878.35, Coal India rose Rs 18.45 to Rs 460.40, NMDC rose Rs 7.85 to Rs 244.60.

Healthcare index rose to 1185

Healthcare-BSE Healthcare index closed 1185.35 points higher at 35577.68 due to reinvestment of funds in pharmaceuticals companies. Kopran rose Rs 24.60 to Rs 233.65, Shilpa Medi rose Rs 46 to Rs 488.60, Dishman Carbogen rose Rs 13.45 to Rs 149.80, Jagsonpal Pharma rose Rs 25.80 to Rs 326.25, Innova Captab rose Rs 38.30 to Rs 493.55, Vijaya Diagnostic rose Rs 64.80 to Rs 849.15, Shalby rose Rs 17.80 to Rs 261.30, AstraZeneca rose Rs 374.65 to Rs 6005.45, Sanofi India rose Rs 539.20 to Rs 9147.

Small cap, mid cap indices rose

The market sentiment turned positive with heavy buying in small, mid cap, cash stocks with Sensex, Nifty based rally. Out of total 3918 stocks traded on BSE, gainers were 2597 and losers were 1221. BSE Small Cap index was up 1319.07 points at 46277.55 and BSE Mid Cap index was up 1797.87 points at 42585.97.

DII purchases worth Rs 4555 crore

Foreign Portfolio Investors – FPIs, FIIs made a net sale of shares worth Rs 5656.26 crore in cash today on Wednesday. A total of Rs 26,668.98 crore was sold as against a total purchase of Rs 21,012.72 crore. While DIIs-Domestic Institutional Investors made a net purchase of Rs 4555.08 crore in cash today. A total of Rs 24,060.15 crore was sold as against a total purchase of Rs 28,615.23 crore.

Investors' wealth increased by Rs 13.23 lakh crore

Today, the total wealth of investors i.e. the total market capitalization of BSE listed companies increased by Rs 13.23 lakh crore to Rs 408. 06 lakh crore, due to Sensex, Nifty based decline and rebound with big jump and buying in many small, mid cap stocks.
